Dick Smith Cat

After the last year or so of seeing a number of Apple II clones come and go on the market, I had a think about whether I might like one in the collection.

The laser 128 from a couple of weeks back looked interesting, but I think I'd like a "Cat". (Laser 3000) It seems somehow more relevant to NZ, plus the Cat is less of an Apple clone than the Laser 128. It's not even very Apple compatible until you plug in the ROM pack.

In some ways the Cat is to the Apple IIe as the C128 is to the C64. i.e. It has capabilities all it's own that were largely ignored.

Plus I now have the very rare Dick Smith Cat RGB (rebadged Kaga) monitor... So now, I'm on the lookout for a Cat. :D

One of these?

Yes, I remember them in the day. I've only ever seen one on Trade Me. I did bid for it but lost out to someone else.

Yeah, one of those... I may have to hunt on Australian ebay, although, I'm not even 100% sure they were sold in Australia.

Clinton surely has to be taking the mickey with his question here. (dick smith cat drive)

Mind you.. Cats can be preeeetty sensitive about anyone probing around their backsides. :D

Knowing Clinton's dry sense of humour I'm sure it was a double-entendre. That being said, I'm sure he does have a DS Cat in his collection somewhere and having seen his stash stacked in wall-hugging columns, it may be difficult to get around the back to see.
