I should've asked this earlier.

But does anyone have old 10Base2 network cable and T's lying around they'd be keen to sell?
Any sane person would be using 10BaseT, so I'm figuring there must be a fair bit of it lying about somewhere.

I've got 5 machines on the network, but need to add a few more.

It seems when I post here, things magic-spawn on trademe or ebay, I should do it more often, it's like a rain dance.

There's usually an option to use 10-base-T with nearly all NIC's. To strike a 10-base-2 only system isn't common. I am curious what you're using it for?

Yeah I also have 10BaseT transceivers (if needed), CAT6/connectors/crimp tool/test tool and even a pair of 24 port switches.
But I don't want UTP cables all over the place. The great thing with 10Base2 is you have just a single cable running the outside of the room.

Currently got 5 machines on the network, but need to connect another 4 or maybe 5 to get the room done.
Also grabbing a 10BaseT switch with a 10Base2 uplink - handy for laptops etc to quickly plug in to.


(Not hardware related, but kind of shows what I've been up to!)

Protip - avoid IRQ 5 and the address 320H on an XT - took me longer than it should've to work out

I have some terminators and t's.

Can probably find some rg58 cable at work somewhere. Maybe even some RG58 crimp BNC's.

I wasn't sure what I was getting - but these are the real deal and plenty of them. Also came with a few terminators and a whole bag of T's, PCI card with coax and the hub (10Base2 + 8x10BaseT).

Some of the cables were still in their unopened Dick Smith "Netware Ethernet Cable" bags.
Dick didn't provide very good instructions on the back though - in fact it's pretty misleading.

But I think I'm all good now. That big box of goodies only cost $20 so was the bargain I'd been waiting for. Almost everything I want connected is, and I have spares after that.
Going to hook up the IBM RT PC as well so my other machines can telnet and ftp in (well those that I add TCP/IP too anyway). It isn't much use unless looking for car parts, but cool nonetheless.
