oh come on, there must be at least one other collector out there who wants one in their collection??? It's pre-1990s so it qualifies as vintage.

Whilst not too rare, for a $10 ask price (which is about as cheap as you'll find one) you'll get the following features :

    Z80 chip
    clicky qwerty keyboard
plastic grip handle and sturdy construction
    takes cartridges
    and a basic BASIC built-in
all in a kids educational computer/toy which doesn't treat the learner like an idiot.

If I didn't have half a dozen of them already I'd buy another, as I'm thinking of using a whole bunch of them on a laptop trolley or COW (computers on wheels) set up. Maybe I will ...

I saw a One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) XO computer today and couldn't but help think of the Precomputer 1000 as an example of what could have easily become something similar over time as technology improved if such programmes were around, but much earlier on.

$10 offer expires Monday evening if anyone wants this, PM me and I will facilitate the trade for you. Otherwise I will relegate yet another of these devices to my..., well, I'm not sure where it will go. In case my inbox is flooded with messages, for anyone who miss out on this offer not to be missed out on, you will find Precomputer 1000's from time to time in the Toys category on tm.

Interestingly, the blog entry linked below that I found tonight on Wired draws a similar analogue to the XO-1 OLPC that I did:
