I told the seller to relist it from Antiques & Collectibles where it passed in, to Computers/Vintage. But I told him $80 would be a good start that would almost guarantee a bit. But for $1K I'll be recommending to him to deliver it personally in a taxi to collect the money this evening.

I hope he gives you a good tip for the relist recommendation. It certainly worked for him!

it would also be worthy under the subject heading "don't you hate it when you see something selling for a large amount, then you list one, and no one bids on it".

Sights like that dash my hopes of ever getting another IIgs... clearly, other folk know the value of the little beggars now :(

Yeah, I was willing to pay a reasonable amount for this fairly complete setup, but stopped bidding at the $1000 mark... (user dsakey)

It became clear that the autobid increments were getting larger and larger and I was getting the feeling the other buyer wanted it at any price.

I had to pick a place to stop because ego being what it is, can be very dangerous to the wallet on trademe...

Does anyone know, did the sale actually proceed?

Opps, I didn't see this post of yours before I replied to the introductions one. I see you are well aware of recent GS prices :D

I'm not sure who bought that GS but they must have really, really, wanted it!

I can't say I blame whoever did buy it. The IIgs is a wicked little box and represents the best of its pedigree. Although one really does need to wonder... if that's what a normal plain jane IIgs sells for, what's a Woz special worth or furthermore... what's one of the retrofit IIgs for IIe setups worth? As far as I'm aware they were really really uncommon... did any ever get down to NZ?

I don't think the Woz special edition would be worth that much more as they are fairly common ROM 1 machines, well at least in the US they are.

The Woz edition and the retrofit upgrade were "reasonably" common in NZ (the GS itself I dont think ever got the grip that the earlier 8 bit II's did). I remember contemplating the GS into the //e upgrade at the time, but if I remember, there were some limitations (like you couldn’t access the memory upgrade slot because of the //e case design).

Having said that, the GS may be rare here, but certainly not in the US - I sold my Woz edition GS a few years back for $80. It’s all relative I guess.
