I'm just glad I've already got an Apple II+

That is a lot - I didnt read the whole description, but it seems this is an early Rev 0, non II+, rare, but really only because they had issues that they quickly started to address with mobo revisions if I recall correctly. I guess this is what makes them "collectable" (just like misprinted runs of stamps). I suppose this would be also what makes a Lisa much more collectible than a Lisa 2 (because most Lisas where upgraded to Lisa 2s) and a Lisa 2 much more collectable than a Mac XL (because a bunch of Lisa 2s were upgraded to Mac XLs) - increasing the rarity of the originals through the production of much more functional (fixed) machines (for the time).

Horses for courses I guess.

Anyway, $6100 US is a good price tho, and I dunno, but must be getting close to (or surpassing) its original purchase price?

Seems like this is really becoming a collectors hobby.

Having had a couple go at a high price, this has now set a new base price for sellers. Whew!

It's a bubble. A good Rev 0 (is there any such thing? ;) ) will always be worth good money, but this looks like speculators preying upon each other in the wake of Jobs' demise.

I've noticed that the sale price of vintage Apple gear tends to track Apple's "brand value" - the more they are in the market's eye, the higher the vintage stuff sells for. I think we'll see the price drop substantially over the next few months, but will settle higher than it was a couple of months ago.

It'll be interesting to see what these go for after the snipers are done.

Bell & Howell black Apple II plus. Fairly rare and extremely cool. $315 with 2 days to go:

Twentieth Anniversary Mac. $256 with 11 hours to go. I expect this will sell for big money:
