Well the Sanyo MBC 550 is an interesting model. I'm not sure the market would be prepared to pay much though. It surprises me when people sell off things as a bulk lot in this way. Sold as separate items is likey to be a lot more fruitful I would have thought.

It's a bit of an eclectic bunch of stuff. The Sanyos would be interesting, the rest less so.

I tend to agree on price bit high and as the Macs are non worker it leave only a few items of interest

Late to reply as always. Not because I'm slow, but I feel sympathetic to the need to keep threads going.

If you cut through the fluffed out spec descriptions there's less in there than appears, just :

for the paltry $500 opportunistic asking price.

What is interesting is that on another auction ('NEC POWERMATE PORTABLE SX COMPUTER' - http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =435334257) at the time of his auction and around the time bidding was at about $1, pc-components was asking :

A: That's alright. We'd have to add shipping charges to the winning bid. It weighs over 10 kg (one of the 1st true laptops).

Even more interesting, pc-components, is someone in the PC parts (or components, if you will) business - new and second hand.

So adding 1 and 1 together and coming up with 3, i posit that :
1. The trader has a ton of better stuff, and this is just the junk and clearing up space items
2. Based on his selling prices, the other auction, if got for a buck, would be a good investment proposition to him
3. If you buy these, then in a hundred years time, they could be worth more than all the money there is in the world !

I was going to ask on his auction if he had anything else, but I like to work things out from the facts and come up with my own stories. It's my own brand of Interactive Fiction.

The games are fairly interesting to me. I have a vintage PC game collection, which to me means early 1990s. I don't think I have any PC games that stretch back into the 80s. I'm not sure where they all are, but I've never been able to buy any old PC games.

Does anyone out there have any PC games software pre, say, 1988?

I had a family friend with a huge collection of games from that sort of time frame to suit early PCs at one stage, but we're talking ten years ago - he since divorced his wife and fled to Australia, so I strongly doubt they survived the inevitable cleanup of junk he left behind sadly.

Plenty of old stuff is archived out there in the abandonware circles, but it's not the same as legit media really...

I have a huge collection of DOS games and OS's, just not boxed/disks etc, magical zip files.
Around 200 I think, but not sure how many are pre-88, certainly quite a few would be though.
Elite is one, 1984, and isn't a text based adventure yey.

Something thing I'll probably order from overseas is a boxed copy of Xtree Gold, and things like WIndows/DOS (I see DOS 6.22 on trademe, but don't want 6.22, want earlier)

I've got a few older PC titles in my collection but this one of my all time pride and joys...
