Another Mac 128k...

Just picked this up off trade me: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =576275217

The internal 400k floppy drive sounds like it is a bit sad. The 800k floppy from the Mac Plus *should* work I think? Does anyone know?

Wow. Three within a few months of each other. Interesting.

I don't know if a 800k internal floppy works without some board hacking.

Just picked it up - very nice. Looks like it'll need some work! I'll open a "restore" thread soon...

Just in case anyone has a 128 or 512, here is a set of 400k floppies which have an OS, MacPaint and MacWrite from eBay:

Seems like this is a "v2" of the 128k because of the extended keyboard. We will know once he posts a photo of the back of the case. The original Mac 128k had "Macintosh" on the back. The v2 had "Macintosh 128k". They had different motherboards. The original Macintosh had 64k ROMs, the Macintosh 128k had 128k ROMs. It had the same motherboard as the 512.

Interesting read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh_128K

Geez, I bought my Mac 128 earlier in the week for $151 off TradeMe, and it goes, and it included an external floppy. So up & down.

Macs are fickle things. Hells, my Plus was the princely sum of... $1.
Should probably get around to starting it, but all these stories of them releasing their magic smoke concerns me a little :)

They are really easy to fix!

I've found magic smoke is good. There is no problem finding the component that needs replacing and it's usually pretty easy to replace.

If magic smoke were the only faults I found I'd be a happy man :)

I'm sure everyone has seen the nice 110v Macintosh on Trade me at the moment.
Looks mint! From what I can see on mine, the analogue board should be pretty easy to take to 240v - I could be wrong.
