I'm happy to pay for parts and time, I've one from my Apple IIe, and a Apple II clone PSU both have gone pop and leaked magic smoke.

If you open the PSU you will find a square shape "block" looking Capacitor with the side blown out, this is
where the magic smoke genie's hide

0.1uf A/C filter capacitor & 0.47uf A/C capacitor

They don't have polarity , near the plug end, cost $5

I have a row of them on a shelve of blown ones, they look like exploded fire crackers :)

Its fairly normal for an Apple // to explode when you plug it in, best practice would be to replace
these two capacitors before powering it up for the first time. Its not a case of *if* but *when*

I can probably do it for you Don. It's easier than motherboard work. (I'll just have to nab my soldering station back from a mate. :) )
I can talk to you about it on saturday if you're going. (If you like, bring the PSU's or the machines or whatever you prefer.)

Don, did you get any traction on this? I'm willing to have a crack at this some time soon. :D
