Apple IIe restore

by Stargorn » Wed Mar 25, 2015 11:39 am

I've decided to repair my Apple IIe and try to get it working before I decide whether to part with it. The immediate problem is the ASTEC PSU. It appears that 2 line filter capacitors have died (0.1uF 250v X2 and a 0.47uF 250v X2). There is also a missing resistor at the other end of the board labelled R 35 that looks like someone snipped it out.

Can anyone suggest where to find replacements for those capacitors in NZ and also if and what I need to replace the R 35 resistor with?

JayCar has the line caps in stock, prices vary from 90 cents to a four bucks.

They usually don't prevent a power supply from operating though.

Thanks! I had a look on the Jaycar website and couldn't find 'em. Hmm. I wonder what else is dead then. We shall see.

Try and locate a proper local component store, with staff experienced with electronics.

R35 is exactly the same as R23 sitting next to it.
