Shortening Expansion Cards

Yeah....... I'm actually serious.

T5200 doesn't have quite full height (legnth ok, not height), so when cards are installed the back panel can't quite fit on, its about 1cm too unconformtable and I've confirmed that is how (at least mine) was built. While I wait for the replacement board to arrive, I figured I could sort out two expansion cards to fit nicely once it's rebuilt.

So the expansion plates need to be be trimmed. I can think of ways, but I'm an idiot, so how would YOU do it?

Using a vice, a hammer and hand nibbler most likely. ;)

nibbler, forgot about those, will try that.

I was thinking hacksaw, which was a step down from my original idea of angle grinder :S

lol
just realised something, I can't just cut the base, I need to cut the top then reattach the top part slightly lower down.
So cutting is one part, but so is reattaching, although maybe I could just remove the screw part, then bend a few cm off the top and drill a new screw-hole?

The problem is the height between where the screw goes and the ISA connectors are is a few cm less than it should be. The previous owner had just rammed full length network card in bending the ISA riser board (which now remains curved) and used a longer than normal screw to make the jump - the gap + bend was enough to keep the card secure. I'd like to be able to have sound + network without stressing the poor thing out so much and being able to get the rear panel flat.

My T3200SX has normal height slots thankfully so things just slide in and get screwed in place.

Cut off the top flange, trim the required amount out, solder/JBweld/MIG/TIG/whatever the top back on?
