These seem to be popping up on trademe for cheap prices at the moment and are cheap on the Asian sites. Does anyone have any experience or opinions on these? I do wonder what the error/failure rate might be on these. It's an awful lot of gigabytes at a very low price compared to retail store prices. At this stage I don't think I would trust one with my dna sequence, redundancy in all...

It sounds unlikely, the price is too low.
A bit of a search around finds this: http://www.scambusters.co.nz/forum/view ... &start=540

Yeah, low price USB sticks from asia usually tend to be anything up to 1/100th of their rated size with some sort of wraparound write going on.

An old expression about "barge poles" springs to mind.
