Would anyone in Auckland be willing to pick up a boxed Commodore 128 (wedge model, not C128D) from Herne Bay and pack/ship to me in Wellington?

Much appreciated.

Did you get the one that was on Trademe? That looked like a deal.

Surprised it didn't sell the first time around actually.

Yes, this is the one that just closed on Trade Me. I've been wanting the wedge model 128 for a wee while now :)

Its faulty ( if its the $150 one listed as mint) although you really have to read carefully to pickup on that.

He says it starts to C64 and C128 modes ok, but had issues with games carts. That's going enough for me, and might be fixed by simply cleaning the cartridge connectors. If not, then I've got a bit more work ahead of me. Either way, I have a wedge C128 in the box :)

My interpretation was that it has a faulty Video Display Controller

Could be, but if video on power on is clean, and it's garbled only when carts are inserted, the first place I'd check is oxidised and dirty connectors. You'd be surprised how many systems roar into life with judicious application of a little IPA and a cotton bud ;)
