Just opened last night is MOTAT's new exhibition "Get Smart - NZ Wired In The Digital World"
http://www.motat.org.nz/exhibitions/get-smart-nz-wired-in-the-digital-world/

Have you ever found yourself marvelling at the rapid advancements of technology and connectivity in the world around you? Then be prepared to be enthralled by our newest interactive exhibition, Get Smart – NZ Wired in the Digital World!

Get Smart will take visitors on an immersive journey of discovery and nostalgia as they explore the origins of the smart devices that surround us today. Learn about how networks and computing have come together to provide instant connectivity and take a closer look at the Kiwi innovators and entrepreneurs who have contributed to this thrilling digital age. Get Smart investigates the growth of computing, gaming and communications to illustrate how the powerful machines now carried in pockets and purses have become faster, cheaper, and smarter.

Visitors will have the chance to get hands-on in a wide range of activities as they learn about the history of smart technology. Including our special photo booth where visitors can scan themselves and upload their image to the Central Tower screen to create a rolling projection of captured snaps.

Families will love the popular arcade machines where adults can relive their youth and show the next generation how to play legendary games such as Pacman and Donkey Kong.

I was at the opening last night (loaned some gear for display) and its a good exhibition, well worthy of a visit to MOTAT if you are in Auckland.

While the old Computers on display were limited there are some nice items - of particular note:
- Cambridge Meccano Differential Analyser
- POLY 1
- IBM 360

And lots of other displays on the history of related technology and hands on displays. (binary / morse / stepper phone exchange etc.)

Couple of rough snaps.
