Hi all, thanks for validating my account.

I'm an oldschool geek, have run several BBSs over the years, and run one now over telnet as well (http://www.oldschool.geek.nz/bbs/ or telnet to tsd.oldschool.geek.nz). Just noticed Avon on here too. Hi Avon. :D

I was hunting around today trying to help one of my friends get his Searchlight BBS running over telnet when I started stumbling into these forums and posts around the net by a local guy called lizardb0y (who sounds familiar from my reddit days -- are you a roleplayer lizardb0y or have I confused you with someone else?). I'm interested in his idea to start a local retro computer event and saw he's been trying unsuccessfully to kick it off over the last few years. One thing led to another, and I found this forum. :)

My background is mostly old commodore machines, but I have a bunch of other retro gear like ataris and game consoles like the NEC PC Engine. Most of my stuff is packed away and I don't have the space to set it up unfortunately. I did start getting back into Amigas a year or two ago, so I have a pretty beefed up A500 with ACA accelerator and flash card HDs.

I recently helped a prominent wellington sysop get her BBS back online in the form of a web forum, and we have managed to get the message bases from the 90s converted and uploaded. If you're interested in checking out that piece of history, please check out http://boardshitless.com. Those of you from wellington should remember it if you're as old as we are.

Anyway, that's me, I'll go have a look around the boards here and see what's going on.

Welcome to the Forums Spiro!

Yes, space is always an issue these days. I have a few Commodores myself....a PET, Vic 20, C64, C64c, Amiga 500, Plus/4, C16 and PC-5. Geez..more than I thought when I list them all.

Thanks Terry. I almost forgot about my love of 32bit Acorn machines!

A few of your commodores I've never seen in real life. The PET, Plus/4, C16, and PC-5. Although I saw a later Commodore PC, probably a 20 or 30. Sounds like you have a nice collection.

Hi Spiro!

I'm pleased that my name lead you to these forms, and it's great to see you're in Wellington too! Were you the person who first registered oldschool.geek.nz back when .geek registrations first opened? You got in just before me if you are. I wanted it for my collection web site :)
