Introduce yourself. Tell people why you are interested in vintage computers and what (if anything) you've got.

I'm writing this message to introduce myself.

I'm not new to the world of vintage computing. I started my computing career on a Commodore 64 (initially with no means of storage, until I got my floppy drive, a few months later).

From the Commodore 64, I graduated to the Amiga 1000 in 1986, followed by the Amiga 2000 in 1987/88 and he Amiga 4000 in 1992.

I currently own several models of Commodores (64, 64C, SX-64, 128, 128Dcr), an Amiga 1200, two Tandy Model 102s and a NEC PC-8300. For the NEC, I can only blame Terry for planting the "seed of need" in my brain

The reason I joined this forum is directly related to the incredible job Terry did with his YouTube videos.

Thanks Terry!

P.S. I hope to be able to answer some questions and maybe ask some questions as well, time permitting... and BTW my nick has nothing to do with spam and everything to do with a play on words on Uncle Sam and Monty Python's "spam, spam, spam and spam". :)

Thanks for those kind words and sorry for the late welcome. Life's been busy lately!

I have a brother who was a real Amiga fan. It looks like you were to :)

An interesting beast the NEC PC-8300. An upgrade to the original model, a little like the Tandy 102 was to the 100 I guess.

Thanks Terry!

The NEC PC-8300 is a bit more of an "upgrade" than going from the M100 to the T102. There seem to be some compatibility issues between the two NEC models, but mine seems to be handling things quite well. The PC-8201a has a nicer color scheme than the 8300.

I use the NEC PC-8201a REX device and it works well (so far). I also bought a PC-8500 (CP/M portable) and I just got through doing some maintenance work on the motherboard; including replacing the internal backup battery which started to leak, but with no damage.

The main legacy computer that I use (not quite on a daily basis) is the Amiga 1200. It handles the networking to the Wi-Fi printer and the Internet quite well, as long as not heavy duty browsing/multimedia is required.

I didn't realise the Amiga 1200 was up to that. Cool.
