Hi
been into Atari's since the early 80's but have been away from them for a number of years, by chance came across some of my Atari gear while having a clear out, after checking some of them out the addiction soon returned, so been playing with them again for the last few months, when I stopped using them the support had dwindled, but now with the up and coming retro / vintage computer interest there is more info and help out there than in the early 2000's.

Hi and welcome to the forums.

You know I never actually played with any Atari computer until 2008. When I did, it was with an Atari 800XL. I was impressed at its functionality as a home computer. Good graphics and sound for games, robust with a solid keyboard, easy to use DOS and cartridges.

plenty of mod to do on the 800xls, one of mine has a Newel 256K board plus a three way OS switch which allows for standard rom, Onboard monitor os, and 80 instead of 40 screen. and the drive have been moded to have Standard 1050, US doubler , Happy and Lazer drive with the flick of some switches, also have a number of 130XR's which I will have to do a mod on as the Keyboards have failed due to age the traces have cracked so will have to work out a way to make up a circut board to replace the old ones.
As for the ST's not had much luck with them, but the Old Mac powers up but a bit unstable, and I have also uncover some old IBM Laptops ( 100 and a 90 MHz ones and to think we thought they were fast back then.) All I now have to do is find the Amiga ,C16 and the Acorn Arcs
