Acorn Archimedes keyboard

Postby Clym5 on Thu Nov 27, 2014 9:20 pm

I recently picked up an Acorn A4000, as I already had a keyboard for it, but as it turns out, the keyboard doesn't go. The last owner said it didn't work on his PC, and only 3 keys work when used on the Acorn. I assume the different pinouts killed it when it was used on that PC?

Might anyone around here have a spare external Acorn Archimedes keyboard that they're willing to part with?

Send Kendall Julian kendallj@xtra.co.nz an email. He lives in Napier. He had a lot of Acorn stuff on TM and may be able to help out. Even give some advice on repairing your keyboard.
The Acorn never falls far from the tree.. x86 GUI whore.

If only some of the keys work, it might just be a damaged track or 2 on the circuit board. Would be worth talking it apart and testing.
Hold down Del when you switch the A4000 on to clear the CMOS. Does that help?
I have a number of A4000 keyboards you could use to test with, but I won't be able to part with it sorry.

I plugged it in, and I think something in the power supply blew. I'll fix that first. Maybe, could I borrow a keyboard for a week or two? I'm over on the north shore often, so I could pop by. All good if not!

Thanks, LilJoe, you're a legend! I've been borrowing a keyboard and mouse from MisJiF, but I'll still try and get the one on TM.

No problem :D its still a bit steep price wise once you add postage... maybe you could negotiate a better price
