Old SCSI gear - going to the tip next weekend...

Postby SeanKennedy on Mon Jun 08, 2015 6:21 pm

Ok guys - the word has come from on high that the new house will have a much reduced garage/shed capability, so I need to downsize. (First thing I should have downsized was the images :( I apologise in advance... )

This stuff is all free to pick up from East Christchurch (Or the Russley Technology Park if easier), and whatever is left over goes to the landfill etc.

Any takers, PM me.

I'll try and clump it into useful lots:

LOT1 -A box of SCSI cables and terminators:

LOT 2 -A Smart & Friendly SCSI CD Writer:

LOT 3 -A 7 bay SCSI 5 1/4" cabinet - with 2xCD drives (caddy type) and 1xCD drive, 6xCaddies:

Hmm - iForce is not playing nice over the WiFi - I'll retire to the shed and continue...

LOT 4 - General Tape drives. Sony in box (Don't think it's mint), Colorado / TRAVAN T4000S in external enclosure, DDS2.

LOT 5 - SCSI enclosures : Sun Sparc type, BCM(?) and a rusted old thing that did have my external Mac Plus disk rattling around in it until I decided to bring it inhouse (It really is crap - internal power supply and mounting rails, but surface rust for Africa!):

And an old SCSI CD-ROM. Might throw that in with the cabinet actually.

Actually, I'd rather you hadn't. Can you size them back up? They're just small enough that I can't tell what's rust and what's speckling from being downsampled. (I'm interested in some of the video cards mainly.)
"dsakey" on trademe. Apple II's are my thing.

How about I fire the small box of video cards at LIzardBoy? It's probably rust TBH. Some of the worst are the three ATI ones that I think are ex Dec Alpha.

Those external SCSI tape drives with their built in PSUs are great for housing modern retro gear that needs 5V. Such as one of these:

Very interested in Lot 2 just by itself. What would you like for it, cash or trade? I have a few old small bits and pieces you might like.

PM me your address and I'll sort something out.

The graphics cards are gone.

Ok - thanks to Beags, Gibsaw and MangaSurfer I think I only have the SCSI tape drives and external enclosures left - and I binned the Sun and Apple one as they were too rusty.

Gavin has offered to pick over the rest - I'll see if I can add any sweeteners - there was a 4U rack mount PC enclosure with PSU and multiple drive bays. I'll regroup and report back...

Thanks Sean, the CD writer powers up, accepts a cd and spins up, I can see it on the correct SCSI ID on my little Classic but so far I haven't been able to get the drivers for it. My Classic will only run Mac OS 7.5.5 at the latest and the FWB CD Toolkit that I have needs 7.6 (I think). 'nuther project for 'nuther time!

Hmmm - I'll have a dig - it was nearly 20 years ago, and I may have binned any Mac software at unboxing as we had no need for it - then again, it might be in an old 3.5" disk box.
