2xIBM XT Personal computer, 1xIBM Screen

That's two more IBM XT computers than I have. Picture two ruins it for me though with the big blue 'rubbish' in vivid (no pun intended, but shall take credit for nonetheless) on the case. It could have easily been cleaned off. I think the monitor has the same written on the top as well.

Described working condition is a bonus though and at least they were saved from rubbish. In all my years of talking to people in Dunedin, I've only ever been able to hear post hoc "I had x & x computer, but it got thrown out".

I couldn't do it - pick up something for free and then expect that much for it ($250). I'd at least do a dollar start and let the market decide the value, especially for something that has quite a difficult to determine and variable value. But that's just me. However, I guess you do have to try your luck and maybe the price will drop if there are no bids. It's good to see the guy selling the Osborne brought the start price right back.

Recent February high sale prices include :

Sega SC-3000H $131 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=356195643
ZX81, $200 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=358029528,
ZX81, $150 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Computers/Vintage/auction-350606605.htm
Atari CX-2600, $177 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=351253255

Of course lots of very cheap C64s and Vic 20s have sold this month too. And you all missed the :
Atari 400, boxed, $81 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=349278569
which I missed too, because you know, that one day a year where you muster up the gusto to do a bootsale/market, well, I was loading the car that morning and forgot to bid as well.

Looks like I should keep a couple of ZX81s listed with ridiculous reserves just to see what happens ;)

Oooooh, those are tempting. Price is a little high but at least both sound like they're easily capable of being made into good machines!

Yes, he MIGHT get a bite but having the words "rubbish" penned on there does not inspire one with confidence..lol If it were me, I would have removed it first.

I don't need an XT but I could certainly do with a Mono IBM screen. He might break it up if he gets no bids. Mind you, Christchurch means expensive and delicate shipping. Always risky with monitors.

I didn't see that Atari. Mind you I've got one, and haven't got the room or money for double ups. I must remember to check that "other" computer category from time to time.

wouldn't work. I think it's Less's Law of Auctions - when you see something go for more and try and list one yourself, it will certainly go for much less. Probably some logarithmic amount less.

You just quoted two that went well above odds :)

I could list one new old stock completely original ZX81 kitset. But because that would require assembly before use it probably wouldn't sell at all. :(

"I could certainly do with a Mono IBM screen. He might break it up if he gets no bids. Mind you, Christchurch means expensive and delicate shipping. Always risky with monitors."

I see you bid on his re-list, Terry. My!
(I could wish I'd hauled my identical one off the shelf before the colour one, to look at... oh, well!)

But I saw (in fact I think that's how I found this site!) that you'd expressed an interest in a colour one, in auction # 361510408
(Yet "recycled" offered a Type 8503 003, which is colour, and exactly what I have for sale shortly, although he thought it was a B&W (there are no visible pixels on the screen, so off, it could be mistaken for one) (& I think it's 12", not 13").

Still after one? Anybody?

I think I'm going to list it on TM shortly...

~ Ross

PS: Monitors get shipped all around the world, so if packaged well (& I take pride in packaging well, myself!) there should be no reason for concern... if in doubt, convey the need for well-packed care to the vendor, of course.

Ooops!
Bad typo alert!

I wrote "Yet "recycled" offered a Type 8503 003, which is colour"

No, Type 8513 003 (003 being Southern Hemisphere) is what I've got, and about to offer for sale.

Sorry about that!

Yes. Bugger. LOL :(

Actually recycled is going to visit with that IBM "B/W" monitor on the weekend. He's trading it for something else I've got. Maybe it is actually colour and something has broken? Anyway, we'll find out on the weekend.

(still getting the hang of this!)

No, 8503 is B&W, 8513 is "Color".

Here's a slightly cropped reduced size pic of the prospective TM image...

I'd be interested in bidding for it too, assuming it hasn't been sold already.

Apologies for late replies, all; - just catching up with postings now.

No, I haven't listed yet, or even emailed Terry - just got caught up in other events all yesterday, and late into the early hours of this morning ... no offense intended! :)

Hmm, I wonder what is a reasonable (starting) value... ?

(I do need to urgently raise some cash - hence looking through the shed-like store-room for saleable items...)

Will have a think on this, and come back later this afternoon...

[Ideally, I'd have two... ]

Thanks for the encouraging interest!
