Not much interest in this? Surely better than the HP Palmtops with that usefully large screen size?

Have you seen what can be (one person has) done with this machine :

Does anyone know the trader froggy2? This trader seems to buy almost every small computing device, calculator and chess computer there is and is almost un-outbiddable. Chess computers, calculators and pocket/palmtop PCs sell for lots overseas, but have quite a small market and specialised set of buyers in NZ. Does this person just buy and re-sell on ebay?

I have a few Sharp luggable and smaller machines and am considering this auction, but suspect there's probably a high auto-bid already set.

Interesting questions, a lovely machine, and thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Quite amazing, what hieroglyph has done, and to see what can be done...

Pretty good final price too, it seems?

Do you number a Sharp PC-7000 amongst your luggables?

I've been thinking of selling one; working fine, but the scree backlight is rather weak; I really need reading glasses to see it clearly! Haven't investigated whether some backlight conversion/replacement would be feasible...

I do have, not only an original, as new sealed (internally) manual for it, and the (an) original diskette, but also a spare, with just a little wear on the first couple of pages...

Cheers!

I see I have a Sharp PC-7000 and a Sharp PC-7100. Without looking things up, I think they're both about the same machine. One has the optional CE-700P printer joined onto the back which is why I bought the second one.

I think the market is a bit low of some of these machines, but they are great for display if you don't have an example of a luggable/portable. The Compaq Portable just sold for a tiny amount because of a described display fault and these I think are one of the most stylish of all the luggables.

The 7100 is the version with a hard drive instead of the second floppy:

(The printer suited either, I think.)

There's a port on the bottom of the 7000, covered with a screw/tab, that looks like an unkeyed IDE socket;- it connects to an external HD case it was designed to sit on top of. Wonder how standard/IDE it may be...

I've just had a mad idea too to see if old scanner flouros might replace a failing backlight... ???
Might measure voltages, &etc. ...
