Yeah saw it on there last night, very cool! It's like the ruggedized underpowered cousin of my iBook :)

Yep, gotta love the translucent look and feel, the fold back screen with portrait or landscape orientation was an interesting feature for 97 (reading eBooks) coupled with the touch screen and stylus all you need is an app store and you have a stone age ipad...

I tried out the handwriting recognition sw and was surprised at its accuracy or maybe my writing is better that i thought...

If you have the time this is an interesting run down on the emate's claim to fame... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuLJ2dWaYP0

Can anyone say what this sold for? I can't remember what the price range was. I see they're cheap as chips overseas, but they seem fairly uncommon in NZ on auction.

There's a nice boxed example on tm at the moment http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =401397826

I really don't need a boxed example so I think I will wait for a cheaper one.

Don't know much about them. Aren't they apple's last gasp with the Newton architecture?
"dsakey" on trademe. Apple II's are my thing.

They sure are. They're basically a Messagepad with a keyboard, ruggedized for use in educational environments. I remember talk at the time that the eMate was going to revolutionize education and every kid would need one. Sound familiar? ;)
