seem to remember this on Trademe a week or so back
http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/vint ... 721847.htm
now up for a $100 US start price

its the wording that gets me
A mint Amiga 1200 in original box.

This is from Germany so has a Euro Plug on it.

This unit works fine overall. Brought it from an Amiga collector in Germany, so this is in mint condition.

Comes with power cable only no other cables.

No Mouse, Discs or Manuels.

Can be shipped at buyers cost.

yes, that's definitely exactly the one. Pisses me off when I see that happening.

EDIT: Though, thinking about it, it is a German import so I suppose it's fair enough if he wants to sell it internationally.

So when it's locally he wants $250, then puts it on eBay and after conversion it's suddenly worth $130? Guy is pants on head. I woulda damn near been interested, you can never have too many A1200s.

The A1200 was pretty much the pinnacle of orignal Amiga hardware - it had a 68020 CPU and the AGA graphics chipset which were huge improvements over older models. There were numerous enhancements available for it, including later 680x0 and PowerPC CPUs, and is a popular choice for Amiga modding. I know several people who have built them into PC tower style cases.

They're a nice machine, but he wants too much for it, especially untested. The fact that he has refused to test it makes me suspicious.

Yeap, the only one-ups from a 1200 in the Classic Amiga world without major modifications are the 4000D and 4000T, neither of which are particularly common any more.

The german adapter is not an excuse, compact Amigas are compact Amigas - any A500 power supply would do (and is beefier than the stock 1200 unit anyway)... he has no excuse whatsoever. Put it this way - I paid $200 in 2000 for my A1200HD40. His is a plain A1200 with no hard drive, a German wog keyboard, likely ROM3.0 and a wrong power adapter, and he wants $250. He's dreaming.

I notice that he's describing it as "This unit works fine overall" now. I wonder if that means he's tested it now? I suspect not.
