8-bit Generation Documentary

Postby lizardb0y on Tue Feb 21, 2012 7:25 pm

This documentary looks really good - it certainly has the right people being interviewed. There are two parts; Home Computer Invasion (6 episodes 50’ each) and Playing The Revolution (6 episodes 50’ each).

Shipping is 22 Euro per unit, so I've contacted them asking if they'd do combined shipping for a group purchase. Would anyone else be interested?

Looks good. I'd be interested. I don't have a Blue-ray DVD player though, so it would have to be a standard DVD.

Keen. BD or DVD, either is fine.

I'd be interested too (DVD option).

I've already got something similar titled Hackers - Wizards of the Electronic Age.
It's ok, but focuses more on programmers than machines, and not purely 8-bit.

I've not heard back from them since I first posted this, so I've sent another message.

At the moment the shopping cart will only show shipping costs for 1 item - if you select more than one it will simply not calculate shipping.

That's a pity. Let us know if you have any joy with them Andrew. If not, I guess it just means we need to order our own copy and pay full shipping.

Gave in and ordered the limited edition after watching the trailer.

Did anyone else notice something funky about that Apple II that Woz is playing with at the start? That's right, it's got a 1084S for its display!

After an initial promising email saying "We'll get our staff to look into this for you" they've stopped responding to email again.

If you trust them enough to actually ship a a product, you're on your own.

Yeah, that's why I went to them to try to arrange a group purchase. I've told them that they're going to lose sales over the shipping cost, but they just won't respond to my emails. I first contacted them on 21st Feb. The only contact I had was as follows. I've sent two follow up emails since and had no reply. Feel free to chase him up as well. I've given up and ordered the Limited Edition to make the shipping seem a bit less wasteful.

subject: 8bit Generation order
Hi Tomaso,

Thanks for your email.

I am in New Zealand and have several people interested on ordering 8bit Generation. Because of the high cost of shipping (22 Euro each package) we would like to order together to reduce shipping. I tried putting multiple items in my shipping cart bit it will not quote shipping for more than 1 item.

I have four people interested in ordering various DVD and Blu Ray versions. Would it be possible to get reduced shipping by ordering all at once?

Thanks,
Andrew
