Bits and Bytes

I've finally got a scanner here at home and I'm slowly completing the Bits & Bytes uploads at

Just a not to say I've put the downloads online again. Please only download the issues of interest.

Demand seems very high for these scans right throughout the world. Twenty five gigabytes a month seems barely enough, so I'll have to see how it goes.

Maybe you should consider making them available via Bit Torrent - that way the community can help share the load.

I sold a box load of those mags on trademe a few years ago. Was sad to see them go.
On TradeMe I'm BIT.

After a long hiatus I've dusted off the scanner and put up another issue.

Another one from June 1986.

http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/bit ... sue4.9.htm

This is a partcularly interesting issue in that it has an interview with Steve Woz. and Andy Hertzfeld on Apple and it's directions. Recall this was only a year or so after Steve Jobs was sacked. It also has a review of the Amiga and an article on the collapse of the home computer market in the UK. Good stuff!

P.S. I seem to be missing the May, July and August issues from 1986. If anyone has them and is prepared to lend them to me for scanning I'd be grateful. My scanning is non-destructive so you would get them back.

I have those 3 sitting on my desk now and am happy to send them up for scanning :)

I'm looking for some issues of Bits & Bytes myself -

82: Sep, Oct, Nov
83: May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct,
84: Apr, Dec/Jan
85: May
86: Feb
87: Jul, Dec/Jan
88: Feb, Apr
89: Feb

I have spare issues to swap:

84: Jul, Oct, Nov (damaged cover)
85: Feb (worn), Apr x 2 (1 damaged), Jun, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov
87: Jun

I don't have any after March 1990.

Thanks Andrew, that would be great. I'll PM a postal address.

Do you want those missing issues to own or just for loan so you can browse through a real "hard copy"?

The September 1986 issue is now up...

http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/bit ... sue5.1.htm

One ad features none other than Tim Shadbold. This was his pre-mayor days when he was still a concret contractor. He was known then only as a late 1960s radical student leader, hence the use of the same word in the advertisement.

He'd obviously joined the establishment by 1986 :)

Bugger, I've just discovered that there is something wrong with my hosting site. Zip files are sent up from me just fine, but are corrupt when downloaded. :x

I'll investigate, but in the meantime don't download any of the magazines unless you want to use some bandwidth unnecessarily.

I'm looking to buy or swap those. I have no idea what happened to my original copies!
