EOI: A few machines

Postby SpidersWeb on Tue Feb 04, 2014 5:01 pm

So I have some machines sitting here that I'm very unlikely to make use of. They were mostly donated, so selling them would be a bit ass.
I can store them myself no problem, but if somebody was really keen to get a machine and attempt to get it running (and make a thread of their progress would be cool) then I'd be happy to pass them on.

None are tested, have accessories or power packs.

First list is definitely available and free (condition is you don't sell it for profit - and if you do - proceeds go to charity):
- Dragon 32 (looks average, yellowish etc, all keys there)
- Atari 800XL (looks pretty nice!)
- Commodore 16 (mint) + spare with a missing key
- Commodore Plus/4 (needs a clean, but good cond)

Second list I plan to keep, but if someone really needs something:
- Commodore 64C's
- Commodore 1701 - video is awesome, audio amp is on the fritz
- 1541 breadbin - powers up, spins, needs alignment
- 1541 breadbin - untested

Third list, I don't want to keep but I'm sure I will because nobody else will want it:
- 3 x FileNet displays - ~19" high resolution monochrome - with matching keyboards - fibre optic Keyboard, Sync, and Video lines (only one set of cables though, and it's damaged)
- 1 x FileNet display - same as above, but slightly older, 15 pin display connector, no keyboard
- 2 x FIleNet workstations - no local media, boot off ethernet, 68000 series Motorolla units - one has 16Mb of RAM and 4 video cards (1989) the other I'm not sure of but it's an older model.
- dead MFM hard drives - super dead - maybe use for art work or something
- Commodore 64 breadbin but has broken key AND someone pulled all the chips out (I except nobody would want this, maybe an art project??)
- HP Pentium 4 - not a good one but it works, I think it's a 1.8, can't remember, matching monitor and keyboard.
- enourmous ATX case, 4x5.25" + 3.5" bays - its heavy as <creativeword> - Gateway branded
- I have a few P3 and AMD boards floating around as well, SB lives etc

I also have a large collection of IDE drives, expansion cards, cables etc if anyone needed a PC bit.

Just let me know if anything is of interest.

I'm keen on the Dragon 32. I could do with some parts to get mine going.

I'd be keen on the Atari 800XL. I'm always up for a spare and it could be nicer than my present one, which is somewhat average.

I would be keen on taking your old broken C64 bread-bin - broken key and missing chips don't bother me as I'm thinking a display piece, or I'll give a Raspberry Pi project a bash (when I get money for that) as there's a few good examples and tips online for that. Could be something fun for me to do... (though I really should finish fixing the last few minor things with the speccy at some stage) :D

Can you ship it to Auckland? PM me if you can, and let me know how much... Cheers!

Also:

- tested working Amiga 500 *but* it's missing a key and you have to use a paper clip or something to hold it up
- box of Apple IIc disks (including some originals and disks that shipped with a IIc) - I was going to keep these for when I got an Apple II - but current price levels have deterred me from getting a system.
- Genuine OEM HP150 software - most still sealed - including Wordstar etc - these are boxed titles similar to what you'd get with an early IBM computer
- will swap sealed HD 5.25" media for sealed DD media. I'm running low on DD, but have hundreds of HD still sealed.
- also for art projects etc - I have long-dead 5.25 media, and very dead motherboards/cards etc etc (better than using working stuff!).

I'll pop it next to your Disk ][

Just flick me an address and I'll send it up :) Cost I'd guess would be under ten bucks - wouldn't worry about it.
