Amiga bits

Trying to find my youth (it's a mission impossible) but after a few things.

My Amiga 500 Rev 6 doesn't boot to the fdd (gray screen and caps key works) so looking for a boot rom 1.3.

Have an Amiga rev 5 that goes (would it be safe to try the boot chip in the Rev 6 MB ??).

My 1084s screen goes mad after a while so after another screen or 2 a520's.

Guess i'm pussing it for an A590 (or 2).

Thats a start anyway.

Tomo

Hi Tomo,

I have a 1.3 ROM I pulled from an A2000. Was working when pulled so I could send it to you.

You might want to consider an Indivision ECS as it will allow you to use modern LCD monitors. Check out http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com for more info.

Well now I have a few working amigas, i'm going through the disks Get alot of df1:???? or Ndos or Bad.

Now have the original Stunt Car Racer but disk has errors, Does anyone have a working copy I could purchase, I remember this one and want to get my youth back for a while LOL

Still going through the disks (over 500) and hoping to find a Xcopy prog (as diskdoctor or DiskSalv doesn't fix it).

It's bringing back alot of good times and my 8 year old was having fun with pacman LOL.

Or any Ideas would be handy

Tomo

Good to see you're having a bit fun with them Tomo. Careful though this retro computing bug can get scary ;)

It is fun but when you find a game that brings back so many memories and then the disk is bad etc, it sucks.

Still if I can find them online to download via the PC, I'll kick my old 386 up and fire my Spitfire BBS (Swivels BBS) up and transfer them to that.

Then dial in with the amiga to get them (unless there is an easy way)

there are 'easier' ways, although it can depend on your budget.

amiga explorer from amiga forever can give you a relatively direct hardware path to write floppy images (.adf files are all over the Internet on abandonware sites).
that only needs a null-modem cable from your pc to the amiga and can write out to floppies in the amiga drive.
of course, in 2013AD, your PC may not have a serial port. :S

another option, easy but starting to get a little on the expensive side, is a solid state floppy drive emulator like a HxC
I find this is the fastest path from "I want to play X" to "Yay, I'm playing X!"

Well as i'm a computer tech and run my own business, I have a few PC's around and a serial port is easy (as is the null-modem cable).

I'll look into your info, Thanks
