Hi Jman, I recently got a 5.25 floppy drive from a friend who works at a computer recycling centre who saves them and older machines for me, PM me if you are interested. Just one question, have you tried cleaning the heads in the current drives you have in the TRS-80? I've cleaned heads in floppy drives before that were not previously reading and all those times the repair has been successful

How many do you want? I'm sure I still have some stored away somewhere that could be 'repurposed'.

I found some unused HD (1.2M) ones, but those are not usable on the TRS-80, from memory. There were plenty of DS-DD ones, but they have all been used previously on a PC. I found 4 with unimportant stuff on. Many of the others could be used after being subjected to a bulk eraser, or with a guarantee that they would be erased immediately, as they may contain confidential data.

Send me a PM with address details and I'll send the 4 DS-DD ones. No guarantees, as they are over 25 years old.

BTW I have lots of original PC software on 5.25 (and 3.5) floppy disks if anyone collects that. Ventura, MSC, MS Assembler, FoxPro, PC Tools, and dozens of others. As well as cover disks from computer magazines.

There are 5.25" disks available on Trade Me auction:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/vintage/auction-977092335.htm

The un-open box looks to be double sided and double density.

If that fails I can probably spare some as well - currently working on getting my old spectrum disks working. Also have some System 80 disks around here somewhere...
