DDR2... 4GB PC6400/800 modules.

I know it's not terribly "vintage" but it is old and no-one has stock anymore to "try" it.

I have a machine I want to upgrade to 16GB RAM, but there's a biiiig question mark over whether the P35 chipset can actually take > 8GB of RAM. (There is anecdotally a Gigabyte board able to do it with a BIOS update, but I don't want to spend a whole bunch of cash buying modules for my ASUS P5K-E without trying it first.)

Has anyone in Auckland got some 4GB DDR2 PC6400/800 modules they would be willing to stick on my board for a few minutes to see whether it will recognise them? :D

I don't think it takes ECC... I've just upgraded it to 8GB, but I'm still keen to look at 16GB. (Yes, I know this seems stupid, but I have it in mind for this machine to become a kickass FreeNAS device.)

I live in the northwest and work in grafton. Where abouts in Auckland are you?

sorry for the slow reply.

Mine are all ECC in that size.

I'm on the north shore.
