Hi
Im trying to install Irix on my SGI OCTANE2, but no CD-ROM drive, I would like a SCSI dvd or cd drive preferable of SGI or SUN brand (I know that these are compatible) maybe Plextor...I have an enclosure but not sure if that will work with the drive when I get one (baggers can't be choosers) so im spreading my bets, damn sgi for not including a 5.25" bay.
Hope one can help or if you have done this with an Octane, advice would be fantastic.
Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon,
I have a spare Plextor PX-32TSi scsi cdrom.
Out of an IBM system with their p/n 97H7795 FRU 97H7796.
It has a 68 pin scsi connector.
I'm not sure on the default block size this one uses, the maual just says one setting is for unix and the other fro everything else.

If you are in the Auckland region I may be able to loan you a Sun SCSI DVD out of my Sun box if that would help.
I don't have any extra's of these unfortunately.

Mark.
