But, but they're the much sort after Model Ms ;) They slice, they dice, they are the bees knees in keys...

Unfortunately there is only really one, unless you sort parts to have a second.

I'd value it at $80, although wouldn't be surprised if it went higher. I want one to go with my PS/2 but for more like $20.
It's gamers/elite folk that push the price up, some claiming it gives a more accurate feel so they know when they've pressed it, and others just wanting that old feel on a modern computer. It's a bit like how wearing pants that don't fit properly is cool now.

What I want, is some Model F, mmmm.

Not just an AT keyboard if you want to put together a full vintage IBM AT though. It's got to be the real deal.

If it was a Model F PC-AT keyboard I would be interested. Not that common though.

Looks like they are going to go for a decent price.

I wonder if there will be a last minute surge of bids?
I was thinking of bidding, but don't like the Model M enough - it's something I'd pay $20 for.

I'd actually rather this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/vint ... 630833.htm
I have a Data General keyboard of similar age, sure it doesn't feel like you could use it as a car ramp, but the clicky responsive feel is really quite satisfying.

lol

Good rant. Reminds me of when I go to fancy restaurants.

The Model M uses a particular keyswitch which is favourable in modern competitive gaming - e.g. not the guys who just do it for casual fun time. It's quite easy to preload the keys and hold them just above the click point - to a normal person it wouldn't make a difference - but when you're playing with the best that extra millisecond or two can actually make the difference. People start doing everything to their machines to make sure they're getting 100% and any failures are there own skill. $120 for a specialist keyboard with a spare isn't bad - my gaming keyboard I'm using cost $300 (and funnily enough, I actually don't like the key feel!! Oh well).

Then you get the people that don't need it, but want it so they look the part etc. Like the people who wear shirts with logos and have no idea what they mean. And of course the 'omg old keyboard on new computer' people.

I have way too many keyboards here, and the Model M certainly has a different feel. Not for me personally, I'm more of a Model F fan.

With the one I linked, value will just be from collectors who need one, if you wait though you can usually find them cheaper.

No idea who the winners were.
