Gee. Don't they have old Apple IIes in Australia?

Won by an Australian bidder who didn't even want the monitor. Considering it was faulty and shipping costs from here to OZ will be incured, it went for more than I expected. Oh well, I'll have to look elsewhere for some spare parts for my unit.

I was bidding for that too, really wanted an apple II.

But yes, price was ridiculous for non-working machine.

I really just wanted the Apple IIe circuit board for a single thing. The IOU chip. I have a unit with a faulty one which I replaced with a U.S. sourced part. What I didn't realise is there are different IOU chips for PAL and NTSC units. My NTSC chip caused some problems with screen stability with 240v.

I need to find some NZ/Aust/European junk Apple IIe board which at least has this chip working so I desolder and replace. Loose PAL-country IOU Apple IIe chips are very rare in the wild.

No promises Tez, but I'm pretty sure there is a busted IIe in the boot of my car - I just havent had the time lately to do anything with that stuff. Anyway, when I get round to digging it out, and if you still havent found an IOU, I'm sure we can do a deal (like I'll swap you my PAL IOU for your NTSC IOU - cause I dont have a colour monitor anyway) - still, seeing as the IIe is probably busted, it could be the IOU thats the problem I suppose...

Yeah, that was a surprise - say, I dont suppose you (or anyone else) saw what those other IIgs's went for? I was very tempted - I'm also interested to see if my theory on price was right (I'd say not given the recent prices of Apple II stuff!).

That would be great! Maybe in return I could check out the board and see if I can repair it?...or at least figure out what's wrong with it. Anyway, let me know when you dig it out and we can take it from there

Yes, I did. $85. Quite reasonable really given it seemed to have everything, even a spare main unit!
