MS-DOS "Tweener"

Not my auction and I have nothing to do with it but I thought I'd flag this.

These machines are excellent as "in-betweener" machines to allow internet-harvested software to be written to real floppies on '80s vintage machines. They don't come up that often. It probably doesn't have a 360k 5.25 inch floppy drive but one certainly could be fitted. Only $1 reserve.

Buyer must pick up unfortunately. :(

Opps, I forgot the Trade Me link. I can't add it now, as I'm at work and Trade Me is blocked here.

I'll add it tonight if someone doesn't jump in and add it for me.

bidding... I'm hoping it's a 386DX40, given the 5.25. :D

Ooooh I think you could be right sir. I'd put a few pennies on either an Am386DX40 or some flavour of 486DX2/66. Looks like an oldschool Matsushita optical drive too, which inevitably means there's an SB16 in there somewhere too.

Yep... the old Matsushita/Panasonic 562B!! (and I managed to remember that without google!!)

I do vaguely remember an IDE variant as well though. (the 563?)

Here's another nice looking one if anyone wants a 486:

5 1/4" drive and SB16 included.

Missed it anyway... Daughter's birthday party took precedence over sitting on the computer at 11 in the morning.

Oooh it's running OSR 2.5 too... that's like running 98 but without running 98! :)

Yeah was somewhat an offer Gibsaw, the guy offering to check it out is a friend of mine who was going to get some details on it for me to pass on. Ahh well, too late :)

Free 486 fixer-upper in Christchurch:

I'd be tempted to grab this just for that low-profile case but it's on the wrong island.
