Europlus Case

Postby Gibsaw on Mon Oct 06, 2014 1:13 pm

I normally restrain myself from commenting on this these days but $600 for a case? :D

The only time I've seen an entire europlus approach those kind of prices is the "RARE!!! STEVE JOBS!!!" types on uk ebay (£250-£350) and I doubt they actually sell for that very often.

I've actually got the motherboard you mentioned, and I'd be tempted to reunite it with a case, but not for a cool six-hundy. They europlus isn't as rare here as they are in europe. I've (recently) bought entire tidy working europluses for a third of that.

Yes, I also have a motherboard and PSU minus a nice case, which puts me in the market for one of these also.
But not at that price.

If you can sell it for that, well go for it Gavin. I'm a firm believer that owners can ask whatever they want for these things. It's their gear after all, and you never know, someone might well-heeled collector looking specifically for this might bite...so good luck to them.

However, I'm also a firm believer that people have the right to pass wry comment on such prices also, providing such musings are not nasty, derogatory or libelous. :)

Gavin puts up well looked after boxes in working order and asks top dollar and that's fine... I'd expect a working II+ to fetch a good price (>$200) here, but six-hundy for an empty case? Yeah, nah. :D

I can see where Gav could be getting that price, but local buyers aren't going to hand over the equivalent of a uk price+shipping+tax to a local seller. It's just not gonna happen. e.g. a certain $1200 auction that's been on trademe for about a year so far.

I'm inclined to agree. I do want an Apple II+ Europlus case, but it's way too much for me. Gavin if it doesn't sell, consider dropping the price to somewhere below $80 and let Gibsaw and I slug it out. :)

Actually all I really need is a Europlus LID. I do have a case, but its not what I would call pristine. No lid though.

And the II+ motherboard is DOA, so unless I had a reason to restore it, it's just parts to me right now.

It has the blank white stripes display fault... can mean anything from dead CPU to dead bus latches.(Not mine pictured, but that's the display.)

Snap. So is mine. It's on that "to do" list, but way down on that list :)

So, after teasing Gavin about the price of the case, I've got a better idea. :D

How about we go the other way. The PSU is working, but the board is definitely DOA. I've cleaned it, but I'm not going to start replacing chips on a board I have no case for.

I can do without another project right now, and since it is the guts from this case, you don't want it do you, Gavin? (You were bidding against me, so I assume there's some interest.)
