C16's have never been so popular

Postby YetiSeti on Tue Apr 17, 2012 10:49 pm

This boxed C16 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =466193284 sold for $158 with at least 5 bidders. ddr8 and vic20 seem to be pretty common end bidders duking it out with some hefty bids.

Bodes badly for me bidding on the better condition and extra boxing 'Family Pack' one on http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =465783214

which I thought I'd get for around $70. The last two boxed examples I have seen sold for $50. People are bidding like they don't know what a C16 is !

Maybe they don't I thought till I checked who the bidders were,
VIC20, acsi, ddr8, only one unknown to me except he got and Amstrad from Painterman not long ago, yet the ones who know the value of the C16 went to $158, acsi bailed out of the bidding war at $100 and that was for the Boxed C16 only

The Commodore C16 Family pack (Boxed) still at this time has 18hrs to go and is up to $81 with three well know bidders in the picture I would assume it will be on the way much higher.
As I said in another post C= stuff is going into a high compared to many other makes, Strange when they were the most prolific!

I see. I though acsi might have been content bidding on the Atari 400 so thought I was safe from at least one bidder. I may bail and bid on my second choice auction of interest - the 512K expansion for the C64. It was a toss up what I thought might be more important in a collection - the 'family pack' box, or a BBS enabling device (well, that's the main thing I can think of for that much memory).

Hmm Yeah $100 was my limit. Much more interested in the Atari. But would have liked the C16 as I never owned one and would have liked to see the extra colours it had even given the limited graphics and sound capabilities.

Would bid more for a Plus 4 but always knew the second c16 would go for more. Even then $216 for one of these was far to high.

Makes me think its about time to shed a few ZX81's or maybe a SX64. Or even my Stacy4.

Just the local Commodore hobo and middle-aged PC hoarder.
