Too modern for me. Old, free but not vintage.

Actually was offered a Mac PowerPC free just yesterday. Again, too modern. If I took it I'd just be hoarding. :)

I'm after a single PowerMac, like that, but local and cheap.
Either desktop or built-together like that one. Not a G4/G5/iMac/eMac though.

Wait, so you want a PowerMac that isn't one of the last decent PowerMacs? :)

I have three here, but they're all kinda gutless. A stock 7200/100, a 7300/200 and a 7600/200 with a G3 board in it. Only the 7200 runs, the other two have blown power supplies.

Terry powermacs are in the era I'm interested in. Any any possible chance I can make contact with the owner? I'm bit partial to the look of the eMacs myself. Of course Apple made the right choice of switching architecture with their later offerings ;P

Yep! Basically want a machine with colour that isn't painstaking slow but not so new that it feels like just another modern computer.
7x00 series would be ideal. I spotted one on trademe in working condition for next to nothing but was pickup only in Auckland.
No rush to get or anything, just have been keeping my eye out.

Personally I'd like a nice Power Mac 5500/275. Black 5x00 AIO chassis, nice fast 603e, the old 5x00 bottlenecks removed, running anything from old fashioned System 7 to OS 9... mmmmmmm.

I've actually been looking at schematics for repairing the 7300 as it was originally the wife's computer when she was a teenager - a hand-me-down from her uncle. Would be nice to have it up and functional again. Trouble is Apple being Apple didn't do anything normally - the power supply is a custom form factor, with custom connectors and a back-to-front power on trigger system, so modifying an ATX power supply takes a little more work than anticipated. I'll get it done though.

I'll PM you about this.
