Selling stuff on trade me

Postby kiwibrad on Mon Dec 24, 2012 2:41 pm

Hi everyone,

selling a whole lot of stuff on trade me. Got a lot of games to sell and just loaded my first one:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=545964605&ed=true

Have a lot more including:

boxed original games (Pirates, Elite - Gold, Batallion Commader, Monkey Island, Winter/Summer games plus many more)
    tapes
    floppies
    disks
    manuals
hardware (Cmdr 64, Amigas, disk drives, tape drives, monitors)

Would really appreciate any feedback on how to post them so not to offend/rip anyone off. I have tested some of them but not all. I bought a house which had a whole stack of stuff included in the rooms. I really cant check all of it out to make sure if all the gear is working . . . Thought about selling on Ebay but that would just be a hassle being based in NZ.

I had a '64 when I was 15 in the UK but now I have a family and to be honest interests have moved on. . .

Thoughts anyone?

Really? Included in the rooms? Was it a deceased estate? (I struggle to think of any other way that a decent collection would be let go in that manner.)

You're not going to offend anyone by being straight up, and so far your pricing isn't too cheeky :)

However, reading your ad.. I will say that if you can find the time, testing things gives people confidence and you'll get more money. (but if you're testing software, make sure the machine you're testing them with is working and has clean floppy drives. There are numerous references out there for carefully cleaning disk drives for various machines. Ask and ye shall receive.)

People do tend to get stick for using weasel words like "it worked when I stored it away 5 years ago. As is." (when the obvious thing would be to plug it in and test it.)

It is a matter of experience though. If you're a novice, and you encounter a fault that you won't be able to fix. Don't persist in applying power, so further damage is minimised.. Just describe the fault as clearly as you can.

Almost everyone here has experience with fixing vintage machines and will at very least, still be interested, and often will help you fix things. (if you ask nicely)

Oh good god you are tearing me apart, so many nice Amigas, so little money in my bank account I do hope I can rummage some cash monies and take that CD32 off your hands though.

Your A500 you may want to do a little more examination on. When you pop in the 1.2 floppy what noises does the drive make? Could be the disk is bad (or does the 1200 boot it?), could be the drive is bad. If the drive doesn't sound like it's doing any work, could be a bad CIA. Hope it's not the latter! It should boot 1.2 fine on a KS1.3 machine.

Fair point, I just know so little on Amiga's I don't want to screw it up so I did not try! This is what just happened:

Workbench 1.2 went in
Disk was read (grunt noise (technical slang), rotation by the sound of it)
System Request box came up:
A500 WB 1.2
Has a read/write error

Thoughts?

Will post on auction as not trying to mislead at all!

Cheers for guidance by one and all.

The "Atari Games Machine" is that an Atari 2600?

errrr. . . . if you tell me more then maybe I can help?

The machine is black with a wood veneer? It is kind of cool as it comes with full literature including a letter from Captain Atari asking me to join the Atari club! :)

Only challenge is that I have to tune it into the TV. Wish I could put it into the tv direct as an AV option. . .Thoughts anyone?

Some 2600's were called "Darth Vaders" as they were all black, so yours won't be one as it has wood grain, I assume it has 6 switchs. I guess the question is, is it a "Heavy Sixer"?

Try it in the A1200. If it can't boot it, your 1.2 floppy is munched. If it can, the 500's probably got a crapped out drive - everything else sounds good. I'mma chuck a bid on that CD32, I already have two but both have buggered boards and picking one up from Amibay etc would be a pain in the butt.
