pfffft!! Ron is just early on in building his collection. His enthusiasm will wane, as will his readily open wallet.

"little boys pants"... He'd sh*t himself if he had a look at the bid histories for myself or mattdawson. He's just lucky I already have most of this stuff.

If that was actually a superdrive 3.5 controller, I'd be bidding as well. (And then I would split up the rest)

The "mankini"? Oh, yes... If he keeps bidding now, he'll deserve one. :)

Yes, could this be a testosterone-fueled battle in where the Apple IIe itself is secondary to the winning thereof?

Wow $1309... am I reading that right? This must be the highest price paid for an Apple IIe on trademe ever!

On further investigation it turned out to be a testy battle for dominace between Software dev & IT specialist, with the IT Spec taking the line honours.

Crikey alright! I've got 3x Apple //e platinums which are a better spec than that one - does it make them worth $1500 each? I think not.

Once again I reach that time when I mildly regret the Apple IIs I no longer have.

I just handed Mr Turner his little boy pants for that collection of RAM chips.. :D

I was surprised that he resorted to painful repetition of "last 10 second bids". (with the accompanying 2 min extension every time.) Tedious. Maybe his free-spending is slowing down as I was predicting. :D ... however it was almost nostalgic to have Matt chime in with a bid at the last second. :)

Anyway... These just Apple II series parts for me, so I'll be splitting up this collection at some point, with a view to recovering some of the cost.

Anyone have a RAM tester? I don't feel like thrashing the sockets on my machines for testing purposes.

I do believe he may have received a box of tissues at one point. Seriously though I'm surprised he hasn't popped in to say hi.

Let us know when you do. I'll be interested in a few for spares.

Yeah, will do, Tezza. I was glad you stopped bidding. I would hate to be bidding away against someone I was planning to offer to share with. (I would have said something about it, but the site was down)

I'm actually a little surprised no-one else was still bidding with me at $82. There's a lot of useful chips, and assuming a decent ratio of working/non-working, it's less than 50c per chip. Hard to beat, compared to buying them individually for US$5-25 each off ebay.

A practical joke? or someone ripped him off?

Yeah, I'm surprised he hasn't said hello. Maybe someone with his contact details should poke him in the ribs and suggest it.
