DRam Tester

Postby Jman on Sat Mar 10, 2018 9:37 am

Hi
I built a DRAm tester that can check 4116 and 4164 DRam.
Happy to draw up the circuit diagram and post the code if anybody is intrested.
It is based on an Arduino UNO and was inspired by this web page http://forum.defence-force.org/viewtopic.php?t=1699
Of course the issue with 4116 chips is the power requirements that +5 +12 and -5 volts.
I found these DC-DC convertors on Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-DC-Converter-Isolated-Power-In-10V-16V-Double-Out-12V-121212-2W-84mA-UL-/183025545422?hash=item2a9d2c30ce
Datasheet is here https://www.electricautomationnetwork.com/PDF/ENGLISH/MORNSUN/406.pdf.
This has 2 isolated 12v outputs so if we add a 78L05 and a 79L05 the + and - 5V are sorted. The 12v output is fine to use as is.
Power to the test chip is controlled by a FET. Chip type is set by the three jumpers

Very cool John,

I've got one that can do 4116 DRAM already, but these kind of testing units are highly useful. Great stuff!

Hi John,

I'd be interested.
I have quite a few to test.
Mark.
