well part of the group of pc's i got a few weeks ago was a Compaq SLT-III 286 portable..

so waiting on parts for the last kaypro-10 i went and got the 3 luggable's from the garage.. opened the first (lights one.. and was just a case with LCD and not a Compaq but some 3rd party case..

the second was a some what complete unit of the type of the 1st i just opened and on opening up the case it seems ok then i noticed the battery had gone on the 286-10 mo/bo ..

the unit has its own video card with internal lcd connector and extra monitor (9 pin) connector and mda/rgb switch and lcd/ext switch. just needs a connector replacing that has been played with..

well then i opened the 3 bag and there it was a Compaq SLT-III 286 luggable, so it looked ok.. so lets open it and see.. ok so on removing the keyboard it has the usual cable rot so that will need to be replaced.

then i decided to open the case as i didn't want any surprises . well not so good on removing the back... :(

I do (I don't really use it yet)... You can see it sitting beside the C128... you can see it on my introduction photo/post...

However, I made Yoda on the Scrollsaw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_Qc4Om2Bns

even after washing off i can see resistors and caps that need replacing, a transistor washed off as the battery had taken out the leads.. and several of the ic's have legs missing..
