I'm almost 100% sure this is the same port as used on the similar era Mac's (Plus and up, or maybe SE and up) so if you can find a modem cable for one of those you should be right.

It sure is. The IIGS may have introduced us to Apple Desktop Bus before the Mac had it, but its modem connectors were the same as the Mac.

Yes. Enter the IIgs control panel (by Ctrl-OpenApple-Esc from memory) and set slot 2 to "Your Card" (or similar) - I'm a little hazy as its been a while, but google will help you with it.

Yep. You could enable/disable various subsystems to allow use of your own third party components.

Do it!

A couple of developments here..

1. I found a spare 3.5 inch drive hiding in my Mac stuff. I've now got two drives for the machine. This makes it a lot more workable.
2. Following your advice I changed the config in the control panel and had another crack with the Super Serial card and ADTPRO.

Success! I've just download King's Quest. Classic game. With everything working, my software library is now attainable at http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/

Cool.

Hmm, I know too many of those games. I wonder which are IIGS exclusive, if any?

None of them. They are Sierra games though and someone (possibly an Apple Fanboy) said the IIGS was one of the best platforms for these kind of games. I thought I'd get 'em anyway.

Be more or less like playing on an Amiga I'd have thought. Was looking at the screenshots for Test Drive II and felt a little sad... it's a port, and it looks like its benefactor was the IBM version.

There WAS some IIGS only games... dangit, I'mma have to do some searching now.

Arrggg...the more I think about this and visit the page the more I want to order one! Must resist (have to save up money for the 128k Mac that might magically appear one day)...but we wants it..we NEEDS it... :)

The other thing worth mentioning is that the CFFA3000 is a really good product, but it's not a full industrial production line and there is a queue so the earlier you order...

Ok. Ordered! Should make a good accessory for my Apple II range of machines.

Hey, on the subject of transferring files... Should you be still keen to do so using the internal interface, and remove the "super serial" from the equation

The cables are available relatively cheaply.

US$13.80 altogether including shipping for one for the IIgs.

That's a good price.

I have been promised one by the local Mac hoarder. I'm not sure when I'll actually see it though.

I see I'm on the CFFA 3000 order list (order 3662) :D

Who owns the order from Auckland?
