I just came across this little 3d printed Macintosh (I actually learned typing on this version).

Do you think we are not that far away from making actual working computer parts?

We would still need to program the microchips (Need a Calculus genius for that).

I mean if Nasa and the military can make some awesome stuff with it,
I'm sure one day we will be able to 'print' our own favorite vintage computers eh?

There is a lot of talk around the chat groups about this kind of thing. In fact I think it might have already been done for the Commodore 64 (but I can't find the link so consider it rumour).

Thx for your reply, wow that's just mind blowing. Technology is definitely answer to all our problems (Well at least most of them). I wonder how they will 3d print parts like entire circuit boards and such . . . especially the metal parts.

Possibly simple circuit boards with say a single layer on them will be constructable at home soon. Ie you could print yourself a new c64 board instead of paying gazillions to a source online. If we could get the chinese to duplicate old c64 special chips like the sid then truely c64s could go till the end of time. I read the other day about pushing to mars. More basic computers like 8 bits work particularly well in high radiation areas. Could be just the trick for colonists. Not to mention 8 bit backups for space craft critical systems. Just a thought. Someone may disagree.
