Apple II games on eBAY

Postby tezza on Fri Jul 13, 2018 12:13 pm

Hi Guys,
I’ve got quite a few boxed Apple II games (about 50) I’m offloading, about one per day, on ebay at the moment. I’m using ebay to reach a wider market, and also the NZ dollar is low at the moment. My account is tezza_080. The photo shows the 5 I have on there at the moment. If you are interested in Apple II games, follow my listings over the next couple of months.

I’m letting people know these ebay listings are up, in case there is a NZ collector out there that really wants a box, manual or the whole package for a particular game, and so gets a chance to bid.

Ebay doesn’t have a presence in NZ which creates problems regards LOCAL shipping costs. You have to add local shipping and ebay assumes “local” means whatever ebay site you are using (e.g. Aust., UK, US etc.)
I won’t go into the complicated details, just to say that if someone in NZ bought one of these, I’d reimburse some of the shipping costs which are automatically bundled into the paypal/ebay transaction, after everything has gone through. You’d only need to pay $NZ 15 for shipping (or $18 for a rural destination).

If these games don’t sell on ebay, I intend to list them on TradeMe anyway. Just letting you know about the ebay auctions in case there is really, really something you’ve been looking for.

Hi Terry,

How do you find the postage settings on eBay?

I found them confusing especially as they seem to dislike NZ but I will need to go there with the remainder of my QL gear or maybe Sellmyretro would be a better place.

The postage settings on e-bay completely suck! As there is no "NZ ebay" so to speak of they always assume you are selling from whatever local ebay site you are on (US, Aust, UK etc). You are forced to add LOCAL postage which (as far as ebay knows) is postage within that country. Only once you set up local postage can you add International postage.

I've just used a work around by selecting fairly generic shipping terms and made the domestic rate the same as the International rate, assuming that anyone who buys will be out of NZ (If by chance they are from NZ, I can reimburse buyers on shipping later privately). There is another catch though. Local shipping rates has a limit. For these games I'm selling for example, the LOCAL shipping limit is $20. It won't let me charge more than that. It actually costs me quite a bit more than $20 to send overseas with tracking, so I'll take a hit on shipping. However, I've also bumped the reserve price up to compensate so, overall, I should get what's acceptable to me.

There may be other fishhooks in the ebay shipping when it comes to the paypay/payment/shipping process. I hope not.

I'm completely new to this and am feeling my way with it.

Sorry Roux, I do not. With the exception of one (which is a TRS-80 M1 game), they are all Apple II.
