Absolutely. And it was confirmed by others above. Those are the models I suggested to them but I forgot about the Amstrads. (I have let them know since).

My NZ Bits and Bytes run out on Feb, 1988 but by that time it had become very business-oriented. The only ads I could find were for PC-compatibles and Macs.

Just to give you the latest update, the researcher sent someone to check mags etc. in the library. Thy found some ads and confirmed that the models above were the home computers at that time Some of the various bundles (mostly the C64) were within the ball park of those original figures.

I'd agree with spidersweb... It wouldn't be called a "home computer" and be a PC Compatible in 1988.. It'd be a commodore 64, amiga or amstrad.

I'd be inclined to say that Bit's 'n' Bytes possibly wouldn't be the best source by the time 1988 rolled around. You'd be looking more at the k-mart flyers. I have vague memories of the C64 being around the $600 mark for a very long time.

Yes, you might have misunderstood me. That's exactly what I'm saying. "Home computers" of the time would be the Amstrads, Amigas, Atari STs and C64s. Bits and Bytes is not a good source in 1988 because it focused just on business computers.

Personally I think the "Home Computer" of $600 odd mentioned is probably the C64 in some bundled arrangement.

Yes, he did. He sent me this link to the article a day or two ago. I hadn't got around to posting it here yet.
