I see your post mentions the XT-IDE. I take it that CF card is using the XTIDE BIOS?

Yes,I'm sure it is. Don't ask me much about it though. It came pre-installed with it.

Yeah. I'm trying to figure an elegant way to overcome the 512MB limit, without an overlay. Seems some people are using these as basically a BIOS replacement card and not using the IDE port, just to get a flash ROM... (So reconfiguring BIOS doesn't mean re-burning an EPROM)

It would mean I could use a 16 bit IDE still in my 386... I'm tempted, except that doesn't seem very elegant. I'd rather have the card serve some other purpose than a disabled IDE port. (Not to mention I can't find anyone selling completed cards right now and my soldering skills are rubbish.)

I might go down this road... for my 386 at least.

16 Bit ISA "Promise Tech" EIDE card (with IDE BIOS)

Means I lose out on the XTIDE flash updates, but possibly I might also be able to plug in an XTIDE BIOS into this card.

EDIT: And then there's the really expensive way to get these things. New in box.
