Now that my System 80 seems to be functioning 99% ok, I thought I'd make some videos of some software and post them on You Tube.

So far I only have one System 80 video up. It's the Dick Smith demo cassette that I got from Terry's site:

Hopefully more to come...

LOL!!

I talked to Dick Smith on the phone for about 40 mins when I was doing some research into the history of the System 80. He's quite a character. :)

I have a photo somewhere of a friend of mine and his VZ200 showing the "Disk Smith Face" demo at a Computer Expo held at the Forbury Raceway in Dunedin in the late 80s; 85, 86,87 ish I think. These were enthusiast lead expos, organised by Stan of the Central City Computer Interest Group. My friend and I did posters and other publicicty for the events.

It's much more exciting and mysterious when you have to wait for pictures to draw on the screen. The second picture started out looking about the same, showing the unbrushed hair style of Dick Smith but then it actually turned into a picture of Australia.

It was like when using 300 baud BBSs or online databases in the early days. Exciting and mysterious to see what the words would reveal as they slowly scrolled across the screen. Just far more organic somehow!
