Popularity of IBM PS/2s

Just as a topic of conversation, do you guys have a take on how popular IBM PS/2s were in New Zealand in the late 1980s? I'm engaged with a discussion on PS/2s on another forum at the moment. Until the whole PS/2 thing (rapidly) ran out of steam due to the MCA (Microchannel) bus, they seem to have been popular with corporate America, especially those with a standard ISA-type bus.
I suspect they weren't good sellers here due to high prices and the sheer number of inexpensive Asian clones (of acceptable quaility). However, I was never out there in the business/IT world to get a feel for this first hand, so I might be wrong.
Anyone know or have an opinion?
