Hmm..that first link went to a page not found?

As to the second link, it's fun to compare these machines. However, I don't think the comparison is really fair even though they did appear at the same time and were aimed at the same market. You have to look at price also. In New Zealand at least the ZX-Spectrum was always 2/3 to 1/2 the price of the C64, sometimes less. Certainly the C64 was a superior machine, but it also cost more. If you were looking for bang per buck there probably wasn't a lot in it.

Just noticed that the forum changes one word to love,
found that by removing the /love bit it works any way and have edited the original post.

For myself, when the C64 was in its heyday I was but a wee nipper. But I do recall that at the time, one member of the family had a Sinclair, and it was a ZX81, not a Speccy. All the other aunts and uncles had Commodore 64s. You get what others have, so you can share your knowledge... if nobody else has Speccys, why bother?

Of course, that chap would have a totally different view on 80s computing since he was in the UK. Compared to there, I don't think the Spectrum fared nearly as well in the market place. Don't see them coming up on TradeMe (or selling) as rapidly as the Commodores.
Just the local Commodore hobo and middle-aged PC hoarder.
eisa on Trademe. A lasting reminder of a Compaq fetish when I was younger.
