Dick Smith System 80 as a development platform?

Given what's going to appear at the movies soon, here is a bit of trivia I found interesting which I thought I'd share. Did you know that famous Sinclair Spectrum game "The Hobbit" was developed on a System 80!? :)

Oh, here's a brilliant idea that's a day too late.

Wouldn't it have been fantastic to take your Hobbit computer game to the premiere and have it autographed !

Yes, and I was actually in Wellington at a conference at Te Papa on the day of the red carpet. Many wizard hats and hairy feet.

Unfortunately I don't own a copy of the Hobbit (the software), but that would have been a crafty idea.

Pity it was never released for the System 80/TRS 80 M1. It was because the eye-candy graphics were bolted onto the game of course, but, as much of the hard work was done on a System 80, It would be good to have had a text based version for that model.
