Just a follow up to the Jason Scott note I posted earlier.

He would also like to talk to people involved in any Arcades of any sort left in action. If you know of anyone, can you encourage them to drop Jason a note at jason@textfiles.com (or at least let me know and I'll pass the info onto Jason).

There is one fairly large arcade here in Auckland that's still running - Yifans - its probably one of the few I know that are still around.

Of course, when I was a kid there were several in the central city, but that's a long time ago now...

When I first arrived in Wellington in 2000 there was an underground arcade on the corner of Dixon and Taranaki Streets. It still had a bunch of old-school cabs and was just a magical place to visit - most of the old cabs were still 20c per game as well. Within a year or so it was gone. I damn near cried.
