So we've moved house, and barely anything is organised yet, but a friend spotted the IBM's and told his co-workers at Actrix who wanted to see them and proof they still worked.

So after a 12 hour day, I ran up this quick youtube video for them:

As it's a casual video, there isn't much interesting content for you guys on the audio, just me sleep-ranting. I also think I slipped the "s" word in their a few times.

I remember those Phillips I think the "B" stood for "Brilliance" if I remember correctly. I also remember pushing the resolution by using interlaced mode and getting headaches.

Some corrections to the video - CGA snow isn't caused by 'moving things too quickly' - I was dumbing it down, it's caused by modifying the CGA RAM directly and only occurs on the original IBM card. The enhanced XT actually runs an NEC V20 at 4.77 not an Intel 8088 (I upgraded it ages ago) (but the other two are genuine Intel, not AMD).

In the move I did manage to kill a disk drive on my work bench machine, very annoying because it was a YE Data model reserved for my 5170 build :S Hopefully I don't find any more surprises. I still can't find a 5170 case or an AT case big enough to fit my 5170 motherboard - curses.

I LOVE those green screens! Back in 1984/85 I spent a long time in front of these screens writing educational software for my classes.

I also like hearing those old hard drives spin up. They sound "serious" and as if they mean business. All part of the vintage experience (along with the tinny PC sound/music).
